Rollie Silvers, age 79, 109 Jefferson Street Alley, Erwin, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017, in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a son of the late George and Marietta Blankenship Silvers. Mr. Silvers was a farmer and a timberman. He was a member of the Roseville Baptist Church. Other than his parents, Mr. Silvers was preceded in death by five brothers, Grady, Charlie, Elroy, Claude and Freeman Silvers; five sisters, Lula Morrow, Getta Silvers, Beulah Silvers Robinson, Sally Rice and Ola Silvers.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of fifty-six years, Rebecca Silvers; three sons, Donald Ray Silvers and wife, Janice, George Rollie Silvers, and Donald Ray Dunbar, all of Erwin; two brothers, Offie Silvers and wife, Ilene and Harrison Silvers and wife, Rellie, all of Flag Pond; one sister, Eunice Silvers McIntosh of Erwin; fifteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends Monday, December 4, 2017, at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 P. M. until the hour of service. Reverend Jerry Keasling will officiate at the 7:00 P. M. funeral service. Music will be provided by Evelyn Edwards. Serving as pallbearers will be Ron English, Domnick Dunbar, Kenneth Lee Silvers, Monty Dunbar, Jeremy Silvers, Mitchell Price, Ritchie McIntosh and Ronnie Silvers. Committal service will be held at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday in the Silverstown Cemetery, Flag Pond. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 A. M.
