Allen Sparks, age 65, 119 Old Henry Road, Flag Pond, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He lived most of his life in Unicoi County and was a son of the late Jim and Nola Cutshall Sparks. Mr. Sparks was employed by Dreicor for thirty-seven years where he worked in construction.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Grady, Jim and Tommy Sparks; two sisters: Juanita Sparks and Loretta Coffey.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-five years, Mary Shelton Sparks; two sons: Paul Shelton and wife, Megan, Henry A. Sparks, Jr. and wife, Jennifer, all of Flag Pond; two brothers: Freeman Sparks and wife, Velva, Erwin, Johnny Sparks and wife, Carolyn, Greeneville; two sisters: Margaret Hardin and husband, Warren, Flag Pond, Linda Parker and husband, Bill, Jonesborough; three grandchildren: Hannah Shelton, Grace Sparks and Thomas Sparks; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel and other times at the residence. Reverend Craig Shelton will officiate at the 7:00 P.M. funeral service. Music will be provided by the Sweetwater Church of God singers. Pallbearers will be Gary Carter, Bill Hardin, Stephen Honeycutt, Arling Rice, Ed Silvers and Randy Tipton. Honorary pallbearers will be Toby Hughes and Ricky Shelton. Committal service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday in the Sparks Family Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:45 A.M. Saturday.
