Obituary for Violet Fain (Peterson)

Violet Peterson Fain, age 96, 121 Madison Street, Erwin, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 17, 2017, in the Center on Aging, Erwin. She was a native of Daybrook, NC and had lived most of her life in Unicoi County. Mrs. Fain was a daughter of the late Samuel and Darliska Bryant Peterson. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Fain was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and had served as the secretary of her Sunday School class for many years. She was a member of the Clinchfield Senior Citizens where she delivered "Meals on Wheels" and a volunteer who visited the hospital and nursing homes weekly. Mrs. Fain helped friends and neighbors when sick or in need. Other than her parents, Mrs. Fain was preceded in death by her husband, Dixon S. Fain on November 19, 1987 and she was the youngest of eleven brothers and sisters who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Fain leaves behind to cherish her memories: one son, Gary Fain and wife, Faye of Greenville, SC; three daughters, Patricia Rutter and husband, Dick of Kingsport, Merle Fain of Erwin and Priscilla Rasmussen and husband, Philip II of Hendersonville, NC; one grandson, Charles "Chuck" Johnson of Erwin; fifteen nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P. M. to 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor David Crutchfield will officiate at the 2:00 P. M. funeral service. Music will be provided by Larry Pate. Deacons of the Calvary Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. A private family committal service will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
