He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served his country honorably for twenty-two months during the Korean War Era. Mr. Powers was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He graduated in 1961 with a B.S. Degree from what was then East Tennessee State College. Mr. Powers had been retired for many years and his career was spent in the field of banking and marketing. He was an avid golfer and cherished many friendships and memories made during his golfing days.

Other than his parents, Mr. Powers was preceded in death by his brother, Noel A. Powers in 2009; older sister, Eleanor Powers Cash in 1959; younger sisters, Jan Corn Deaton in 2010 and Teresa Renee Powers in 1961.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Lois White Powers, who was the love of his life; his youngest brother, David M. Powers (Bianca) of Oak Park, IL; four younger sisters: Etta J.
