Obituary for Jack Peterson

Jack Peterson, age 82, Jonesborough, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 27, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by his family. Jack was a native of Poplar, NC having lived most of his life in Washington County. He was a son of the late Jerry and Idella Peterson. Jack was a hard worker and a good provider for his family. He worked as an electrician in construction for most of his life until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and was an avid Nascar fan. Jack attended Grace Free-Will Baptist Church in Johnson City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Garfa Peterson, two sisters-in-law, Susan Byrd Jones and Billie McCurry.

Jack leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife of sixty years, Betty Tipton Peterson; three sons: Jeffery Peterson, Telford, Kelvin Peterson, Jonesborough, Steven Peterson and wife, Michelle, Inez, KY; one daughter, Jackie Liesegang Littleton and husband, Dwayne, Jonesborough; nine grandchildren: Brandy Fender, April Kirk, Kelly Harrison, Gabrien Gouge, Erica Chance, Joshua Peterson, Jessica Peterson, Heavenleigh Peterson, Hailee Peterson; fifteen great grandchildren; three brothers: Harvey Peterson and wife, Ernestine, F.C. Peterson, Everette Peterson and wife, Bobbie; five sisters: Emmaline Miller, Eleanor Poole, Gertrude Street, Velva Landers, Wilma Jean Reedy and husband, Jerry; three sisters-in-law: Peggy Cox and husband, Ralph, Ellen McCurry and husband, Plin, Elzona Jennings and husband, Bob; one brother-in-law, Mose Tipton, several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. - 2:30 P.M. on Sunday, September 30, 2018 in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery following the visitation. Reverend Talmadge Brown and Pastor Curtis Hurt will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by 2:30 P.M. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.
