Joseph Berton Brummett, age 89, Unicoi, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Franklin Woods Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and was a son of the late David and Pansy Conley Brummett. Joseph was a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church, Gray. He retired from the Clinchfield Railroad as a conductor with over thirty years of service.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Lockner Brummett on September 9, 2001; three brothers: Dee, Lee, and Fred Brummett.
Joseph leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Johnny Saylor, Unicoi; two sisters: May Hoffman, Unicoi, June Elliot, Erwin; three grandsons: Jacob Saylor, Joseph Saylor both of Johnson City, Joshua Saylor, Unicoi; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City. Pastor Gary Seaman will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:55 A.M. Saturday.
