Howard "Lynn" Erwin, age 63, Erwin, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 3, 2019 while he was surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a son of Martha Shull Erwin and the late Arthur Erwin, Jr.
Lynn was a disabled United States Army Veteran. He served his country honorably for six years. Lynn was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
He was a Member of First Baptist Church and Lynn loved the Lord. He served as a Deacon and worked in the Youth Ministry program. Lynn enjoyed helping with the children during Vacation Bible School.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Brown and Mary Lacey.
In addition to his mother, Martha Shull Erwin, he leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of forty years, Shirley Ann Lacey Erwin; one son: Dustin Erwin (Tricia), Jonesborough; one brother, James Stephen Erwin (Mary), Unicoi; four grandchildren: Gideon Erwin, Aldon Erwin, Ava Williams and Charlotte Williams; 2 brothers-in-law: Roy Lacey (Judy), Earl Lacey (Barbara); 4 sisters-in-law: Linda Lacey who was like a sister to him, Elwanda Shell, Opal Hollifield (Dean), Helen Shell (Frank); Lynn's special pets: Tennessee Lynn Erwin and Hercules; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the First Baptist Church. Reverend Brian Moore will officiate at the 12 Noon service. Music will be provided by Tyler Engle and First Baptist Church Choir, led by Preston Holly. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dustin Erwin, Gideon Erwin, Aldon Erwin, Stephen Erwin, Paul Farnor, Dean Hollifield, Michael Hollifield, Mike McIntosh, Bob Kegley, Roy Lacey and Rob Stromberg. Honorary pallbearers will be will be Deacons of First Baptist Church, Baraca Sunday School Class, Jason Harris, Warren Davis, Eric Erwin and Jeff Davis. Military Honors will be rendered by Carter County Honor Guard.
