Verna Lee (Williams) Chandler

Verna Lee Chandler, of Cary North Carolina, born on September 21, 1935 in Erwin, Tennessee, passed away at age 88 on February 29, 2024 in Cary, North Carolina.

Verna graduated from Needham B. Broughton High School, Raleigh, North Carolina. She worked at Ephesus Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina as a Pre-School Assistant Teacher, prior to retiring in Cary, North Carolina.

Verna was happily married to Dale Chandler for over 70 years and he was the love of her life. In addition to her husband, Verna is survived by her sons Daniel Keith Chandler (Neysa) of Mount Vernon, Virginia, Lawrence Alan Chandler (Kim) of Raleigh, North Carolina , Christopher Dale Chandler (Jenna) of Lithia, Florida; and grandchildren, Leah Delaine Byrd (Joseph), Zane Marsh Chandler, Casidy Charleston Chandler, and Xander Lewis. Verna will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and many, many dear friends.

She enjoyed traveling the world, cooking and spending time with her many friends, family and grandchildren. She was an active member of her churches, Co-Chairman of the Cary First Baptist Church Happy Hearts Program Committee. Verna was active in the Gideon’s International Auxiliary.

A funeral service will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC 27511 on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 7:00 PM and a visitation will be held one hour prior at 6:00 PM for friends and family. A Graveside service will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Clear Branch, Erwin Tennessee on March 6,2024, at 10:00am. Those wishing to attend graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 a.m. Wednesday.
